How to identify the correct Surface charger

Connector type: Most models use the magnetic Surface Connect blade connector. Some newer models also support USB-C Power Delivery (PD). Match your device’s charging port.
Wattage rating: Choose a charger with the same or higher wattage than your original (never lower). Common Surface ratings include 24W (Go), 36–44W (Pro 3–7), 65W (Laptop/Pro 8/9), and 95–102W (Book 2/3, Laptop Studio).
Check your model name & year: e.g. Surface Pro 7, Surface Laptop 5 (13.5″), Surface Go 2, Surface Book 3 (15″), Surface Laptop Studio. You can find this under Settings → System → About.
Original PSU model code (optional): Printed on the brick (e.g. “Model 1625/1735/1796/1800”). This helps verify the correct replacement.

Charging tips & best practice

Using a higher-wattage genuine-spec charger is safe — the device only draws what it needs. Avoid lower wattage than specified.
For USB-C charging, ensure the adapter supports PD profiles required by Surface (often 15V/3A or 20V profiles) and use an E-Marked USB-C cable.
Keep the adapter ventilated; avoid covering the brick during heavy use to reduce heat.

FAQs

Can I use a 65W charger on a device that came with 44W?

Yes. Higher wattage is fine (and may charge faster while in use). Do not go below the original wattage.

USB-C PD vs Surface Connect — which should I choose?

Surface Connect is purpose-built and works on all supported Surface models with that port. USB-C PD is flexible across devices; ensure your Surface supports PD input and the charger provides the required PD voltage (typically 15V or 20V).

Does the charger include a UK mains cable?

Yes — UK 3-pin lead is included for UK orders unless stated otherwise on the product page. EU/US cords may be available as options.
