How to identify the correct HP charger

Connector type & size: HP mainly uses barrel plugs with a centre “smart pin”.
The two most common are 4.5×3.0 mm (blue-tip, slim) and 7.4×5.0 mm (blue-pin, large). Newer ultrabooks may use
USB-C Power Delivery (PD). Match your laptop’s charging port.
Wattage rating: Choose the same or higher wattage than the original (never lower).
Typical HP ratings: 45W (Pavilion/Stream), 65W (ENVY/Spectre/ProBook/EliteBook),

Tip sizes are not cross-compatible: 4.5×3.0 and 7.4×5.0 are different. Match the connector that fits your laptop.
For USB-C, use a PD charger that advertises the required 20V profile and an E-Marked USB-C cable.

Can I use a 65W charger on a laptop that came with 45W?

Yes — higher wattage is fine (and may charge faster while in use). Do not use lower wattage than specified.

4.5×3.0 vs 7.4×5.0 — which do I need?

Match the plug that physically fits your laptop. Many thin-and-light models use 4.5×3.0; older/larger models and high-wattage units often use 7.4×5.0.

USB-C PD or barrel charger for my HP?

If your laptop has USB-C charging, a PD charger is convenient and multi-device friendly. Otherwise select the correct barrel-type with the proper wattage.
