How to identify the correct ASUS charger

Connector type & size: ASUS commonly uses barrel plugs:
4.0×1.35 mm (slim ultrabooks), 5.5×2.5 mm (many mainstream models), and high-power
6.0×3.7 mm (with centre pin) on select ROG/TUF. Newer ZenBook/VivoBook/ExpertBook/ROG Flow also support
USB-C Power Delivery (PD). Match your laptop’s charging port.
Wattage rating: Choose the same or higher wattage as the original (never lower).
Typical ASUS ratings: 33–45W (ultraportables), 65–90W (mainstream/creator),
120–150–180W (performance), and 200–230W (ROG/TUF gaming). Check the label on your old adapter.
Voltage & current: Barrel adapters are usually 19–19.5V
(e.g. 19V ⎓ 2.37A = 45W, 19V ⎓ 3.42A = 65W, 19.5V ⎓ 9.23A = 180W).
USB-C requires PD profiles (often 20V/3.25A ≈ 65W or 20V/5A = 100W).

Charging tips & best practice

A higher-wattage genuine-spec adapter is safe; the laptop only draws what it needs. Avoid going below the original wattage.
Tip sizes are not cross-compatible: 4.0×1.35, 5.5×2.5 and 6.0×3.7 (pin) are different. Match the connector that fits your laptop.
USB-C charging: use a PD charger that advertises the required 20V profile and an E-Marked cable (especially for 100W).
Gaming/creation workloads draw more power — use the manufacturer-rated wattage to maintain performance and battery health.

FAQs

Can I use a 65W charger on a laptop that came with 45W?

Yes — higher wattage is fine (and may charge faster while in use). Do not use lower wattage than specified.

Which ASUS barrel size do I need?

Ultrabooks are often 4.0×1.35 mm; mainstream models 5.5×2.5 mm; some ROG/TUF use 6.0×3.7 mm (with pin). Check your original adapter or DC-IN port.

Will a 100W USB-C charger run my ROG while gaming?

It can power light use on USB-C-capable models, but heavy loads may throttle or slowly discharge. Use the rated barrel adapter (e.g. 180–230W) for full performance.

Does the package include a UK mains lead?
